Devon Surprise Bon Bons Recipe
Cookie

3 Cups         Flour                                                         1 Cup        Butter, softened
2/3 Cup        Pioneer powdered sugar                             ¼ Cup       Milk
1 tsp.            Vanilla                                                      1-7 Oz       Package almond paste

Vanilla Frosting
1 Cup           Pioneer powdered sugar                             1 ½ Tbsp.  Milk
1 tsp.            Vanilla

Chocolate Frosting
1 Oz.            Unsweetened baking chocolate, melted and cooled
1 Cup           Pioneer powdered sugar                             2 Tbsp.      Milk
1 tsp.            Vanilla                                                      Christmas colored sprinkles

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  In a large mixing bowl, beat the flour, butter, Pioneer powdered sugar, milk and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until dough forms.  Cut the almond paste into ¼” slices, then cut each slice into fourths.  Shape a 1” ball of dough around each piece of almond paste.  Gently roll to form a ball.  Place about 1” apart on ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake 10-12 minutes or until set and bottom is golden brown.  Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.  Cool completely, about 30 minutes.  For the vanilla frosting, in a small bowl stir all vanilla frosting ingredients until smooth.  For the chocolate frosting, in a small bowl, stir all chocolate frosting ingredients until smooth.  If necessary, stir in additional milk one teaspoon at a time, until soft enough to spread.  Dip tops of cookies into frostings and dip into sprinkles if desired.
