Chefs from Z Chef Café Win First Ever
" Iron Chef Frankenmuth"
Dave Tenney, representing Z Chef's, took top honors at the "Iron Chef Frankenmuth" professional cooking challenge held at Independence Village on Thursday, December 6, 2007. Five teams of Frankenmuth chefs competed in a one hour cooking showdown featuring mystery ingredients - walleye and pork tenderloins - that were shown to the chefs only ten minutes before they started cooking. All the competing chefs came from local facilities: Z Chef's Café, Zehnder's Restaurant, Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn, Bavarian Inn Lodge and Independence Village. Chefs Bob Zehnder, CSC and Mark Polega - representing Zehnder's Restaurant - took second place honors. Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce and Gordon Food Service sponsored the competition. It was the premier event celebrating the opening of the Smithsonian "Key Ingredients" at the Frankenmuth Museum and Fischer Hall. This exclusive exhibit highlights 350-years of food in America and runs through the end of January.
