SNOWFEST 2005 CELEBRATING 14 YEARS OF WINTER FUN
Frankenmuth, Mich. - January 17, 2005 - While many people wish for a mild, snow-free
winter, the staff of Zehnder's of Frankenmuth looks forward to snow - and lots of it. That's
because Zehnder's Snowfest 2005 is on the way.
Snowfest 2005 will be held from February 2 through February 7 in the Bavarian-style
town of Frankenmuth. The entire city puts on its winter finery and opens its doors to people
from around the world during this celebration of snow and ice.
"Zehnder's Snowfest has been a premiere event for many years and we are prepared to
continue the tradition," said Zehnder's of Frankenmuth President, Bill Parlberg. "Snowfest has
been a tremendous success, drawing crowds up to 250,000. We have some outstanding snow
sculpting and ice carving teams eager to participate, plus many more events for the whole
family."
New to Snowfest 2005 is the National Ice Carving Association Olympic pre-qualifier Ice
Carving Championships, where the winners will represent the United States at the 2006 Winter
Olympics.
Snowfest 2005 will also feature a giveaway of a two-year pre-paid lease for a 2005 Jeep
Grand Cherokee, donated by Your Local Chrysler Dealers. Additional prizes range from a
television to resort weekend getaways. A $5 investment will turn ten individuals into lucky
winners. All winners will be announced Sunday, February 6th at 2 p.m.
Back by popular demand will be the Children's Play Park, the U.S. Army Reserve Band,
Warming Tent with food and entertainment and Fireworks.
Additional popular events at Snowfest 2005 include the International Snow Sculpting
Competition, State of Michigan Snow Sculpting Competition, and the U.S. National Collegiate
Ice Carving Championships. There will also be a snow sculpting competition for the area high
school students as well as a children's snow sculpting event for elementary children. Thursday,
February 3rd is Family Night with a Christian Music Concert featuring the popular Christian
Group River at 7 p.m.
Once again, the finale event of Snowfest 2005 is on Monday, February 7. The Chef's of
ACF Flint/Saginaw Valley will present their annual Professional chef's Hot Food Competition and
tasting to benefit the Flint Head Start Program. The theme for this year is Havanas & Bananas
featuring a Margaritaville atmosphere. Tickets are only $25 per person and should be purchased
in advanced.
