Professional Ice Carving Competition

Thursday-Friday, January 24th-25th, 2008

Thursday, January 24th the Dueling Chainsaw-Single Block Challenge will begin at 5:00 p.m.
In the first round of the challenge the carvers were to make a sea creature in 15 minutes. Audience members are recurited to be judges for the event. In the second round of the challenge they were to make something that flies, again in this round they only had 15 minutes to carve their creations. The third round was freestyle. Here are the winners.

1st Place - Stephan Koch of Yorktown, IN - $500 prize

2nd Place - William Rose of Ypsilanti, MI - $250 prize

Friday, January 26th the Great Lakes Professional Ice Carving Competition will begin at 9 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. It will consist of two person teams competing in a 3-block competition. This is located at Edwin L. Zehnder Park.

2nd Place - Stephan Koch & Jeff Bane - Indiana -- The Holy 1/2-a-saurus

3rd Place - Dick Alford & Jeff Meyers - Ohio -- Mr. Whiskers
