We’re coming up on that time of year when the thoughts of “what are we going to do for Thanksgiving dinner” start popping into people’s minds. Do we go out to eat? Do we prepare dinner at home? And…if dinner is made at home, it’s normally a gigantic mess with all of those pots, pans and dishes. If your family is like mine, there are always those who “must” leave right after dinner leaving the same people to clean up every year! Back in the late 1990’s, we came up with a solution – Zehnder’s Thanksgiving/Christmas To-Go dinners. No pots, no pans, no platters and no serving bowls necessary! Here at Zehnder’s, we’ll do dinner with all the fixings – hot, fresh and in serving containers you can put right on the table or if you want to use Grandma’s special china bowls, that’s okay too.
It’s the perfect solution for the 150 families at Thanksgiving and another 120 at Christmas who order every year. The comment we most often hear is that it allows folks to celebrate at home with a minimum of hassle but at the same time serve a traditional holiday meal complete with a golden brown roasted turkey or baked ham at about the same price it would cost you to make it yourself. Over the years, we’ve seen many others try to compete with us by offering holiday to-go dinners, but read the fine print. Our turkeys are plump 20-22 lbs, premium tom turkeys, roasted and timed to come out of the oven right before they’re picked up. Most others offer a 12-14 lb. bird or worse – sliced turkey breast from a processed roll. Some places will sell you a pre-roasted and chilled dinner to-go. Where I come from, we call that leftovers!
Can you imagine try to reheat all of the food we give in our to-go dinners? You might as well make it from scratch! Plus, our portions are generous! We say our dinners serve eight to ten guests, but in reality, you can invite eight family members and four hungry neighbors to join you and still have enough leftovers for hot turkey sandwiches with gravy the next day. So…when you think holiday dinners – think Zehnder’s! Hopefully, we will take some of the hassle and stress out of the holidays!
