A Family Affair…

Doug Lemcke and Nick Shelton promotions

Zehnder’s has a long history of great customer service with a strong team behind it. Many team members have devoted decades of loyal employment to Zehnder’s and have moved up through the ranks as opportunity continues to grow.

Zehnder’s is pleased to annouce the promotion of two long-time team members: Doug Lemcke and Nick Shelton. Doug Lemcke, currently the Director of Lodging at Zehnder’s Splash Village is being promoted to Vice President of Lodging and Food and Beverage. In this expanded role, Doug will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations at Zehnder’s Splash Village Hotel and Waterpark but will also be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company-wide Food and Beverage team at Zehnder’s Restaurant. Doug has been employed with Zehnder’s for 38 years and has served in a host of capacities since joining Zehnder’s in 1980. Doug has his BBA from Northwood University in Business Management and has extensive Food and Beverage and Lodging experience which makes him uniquely qualified to succeed and excel in his expanded role.

Nick Shelton, currently the Director of Golf at The Fortress Golf Course and a fourth generation family member, is being promoted to the Director of Golf and Retail. In his expanded role, Nick will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations of The Fortress but will work closely with Jan Rusch, Retail Marketplace Manager and the Retail Team to oversee day-to-day operations of Zehnder’s Retail Marketplace. Nick has been employed with Zehnder’s for 15 years and has worked in a host of areas including Zehnder’s Splash Village and Zehnder’s Restaurant since 2003. Nick has a BBA and Master’s Degree from Valparaiso University and is very qualified to help position Zehnder’s for the future in a dynamic and changing retail environment. Nick has been involved in the success and leadership at The Fortress Golf Course for the past six years.

Review of the special party/event functions. Provide necessary production of foods so as to not have uninterrupted flow of Daily checking the coolers and freezers to insure proper utilization of leftovers and rotation of foods to insure freshness. Compliance to the recipe standards and proper portioning of food items.

Bakery Production prepares and assembles bakery items and insures that the proper consistency and quality is followed according to Zehnder’s recipes and standards. Responsible for daily mixing of all breads and sweet goods. Assembles, frosts, and decorates items as necessary. Maintains supply of ingredients and equipment. Responsible to maintain a clean and sanitary work area in compliance with the Saginaw County Health Department.
