Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth has come alive with choirs of angels, many of them resurrected from the archives of the past! Paper mache angels of all shapes and sizes were found in storage. Designer Sherill McNally used six different colors of spray paint and glitter spray to bring them to life! Many of these angels were purchased by Dave Zeese and Don Nagel of the Zeesenagel Italian Village.
Zehnder’s archives Christmas decor for its dining rooms. Designer Dee Zehnder, Sherrill McNally, Marsha Herzog and Sharon Huber are busy elves the first week of November. This year the decorations went up later than usual, as the Heritage Dining Room was slated for a complete re-design and remodel.
Customers travel every year just to see Christmas decor displayed throughout town and particularly Zehnder’s. Tradition has it that nine miles of ribbon are typically used in the restaurant dining rooms alone! Dave and Don started the tradition of using bows and ribbons to decorate trees, wreaths and planters. This tradition still lives today!
“Much of the decor that we continue to use is from the archives”, commented designer Dee Zehnder of Rapunzel’s Unique Gifts and Yarns. “People usually want to purchase our vintage one-of-a-kind pieces! It would be hard to let go any of those!”
Zehnder’s invites you to come in and take a stroll through its rooms in full Christmas regalia open every day of the year.
