First Impressions

I walked into our employee lunch area today and the two employees, Colin and Casey; who envision, plant and maintain all our flower beds were having lunch. If you believe in the importance of first impressions, Colin and Casey are in charge of delivering a great first impression. I asked them if they would take the time to write down the different flowers and plants at our properties. They did.

What you see in and around our properties is over 20 varieties of annuals and perennials that, particularly at our flagship restaurant Zehnder’s; follow a red, white and blue color palette. From red and white begonias, alyssum, cordyline, petunias, blue lobelia, coleus, red and blue verbena, licorice, geraniums, petunias and sweet potato vine. Each planting bed is a beautifully thought out garden. And that’s just what they could remember off the top of their heads! They assured me there’s more.

Ruling the roost in front of our restaurant is one of the centerpieces, our topiary chicken. Beginning in a greenhouse in early April, it is stuffed with nearly 6,000 red and white begonias.

If you visit Zehnder’s, our indoor waterpark hotel Zehnder’s Splash Village, or if you’re coming to shop at Zehnder’s Marketplace or golf at our championship course The Fortress; take a moment to appreciate Colin and Casey’s handiwork. You may even see them cutting, watering or pruning. Say hi and feel free to ask them any questions.
