By Al Zehnder, CEO of Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth
Frankenmuth is home to world famous chicken dinners, the world’s largest Christmas store and a variety of great festivals. Next to Zehnder’s Snowfest, the Frankenmuth Auto Fest is one of my favorites. The event attracts thousands of autos and car enthusiasts from all over the nation. This year’s event, which runs from September 8-10, will kick-off with The Big Block Party. Unique to Auto Fest, the main street of Frankenmuth is blocked off from 4-10pm featuring a variety of food, entertainment and souvenirs with many merchants offering extended shopping hours. Of course, the main attractions are the more than 2,000 cars that line both sides of the street.
New this year is Super Sunday. In the past show cars were limited to autos manufactured prior to 1978. Super Sunday will feature antiques, street rods, late model autos, race cars, low production cars, exotics and one-offs.
Other than the Big Block Party, the event is centered in Heritage Park. For a complete schedule of events go to www.frankenmuthautofest.net. Don’t miss one of Frankenmuth’s great events, it’s Pure Michigan.
