Zehnder’s Snowfest “All Things Chocolate” Baking Contest

The “All Things Chocolate Baking” Contest kicked off Zehnder’s Snowfest 2022 on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Contestants competed in the Cookies, Cakes and Brownies categories complete with entertainment by the “Halsey Old Timers”, door prizes, food samples and a seminar on the history of chocolate hosted by Zehnder’s long-time (now retired-ish) Executive Chef, John Zehnder inside the official Zehnder’s Snowfest Warming Tent . The “All Things Baking Contest” is proudly sponsored by: Michigan Sugar, Le Creuset, WSGW and WITL.

While all of the recipes presented were sweetly superb, here are the top treats that took home awards:

Cookies Category:
• First Place – Jessica Bryant from Shepherd, Michigan with Lavendar Chocolate Crumb Bars
• Second Place – Laura Morales Sayre from Grand Blanc, Michigan with Dreamy Double Chocolate Crunch
• Third Place – Sydney Merrihew from Frankenmuth, Michigan with Chocolate Chip Overload Monster Cookies

 

Brownies Category:
• First Place – Marilou Reiffer from Grand Rapids, Michigan with Salted Caramel Espresso Brownie Bites
• Second Place – Lindsay Falke from Hillsdale, Michigan with “Trio”-politan Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies
• Third Place – Katie Reder from Midland, Michigan with Cracked Nut Caramel Brownies

Cakes Category:
