Zehnder’s Squashtoberfest 2013 Winners

Squashtoberfest is Zehnder’s Autumn celebration in honor of all things squash and pumpkin co-sponsored by Pioneer® Sugar and WSGW. Zehnder’s invited all home cooks, aspiring amateur chefs and TV network “Foodies” to compete in the day long, three-event cooking competition and the winners are listed below:

Soup Finalists:
1st Place – Betty Timmreck with Spicy Zucchini-Squash Cheesy Soup
2nd Place – Donna Schwan with Cheesy Squash Chowder
3rd Place – James Fron with Pumpkin Carrot Soup

Savory Finalists:
1st Place – Donna Mueller with Zucchini Pie
2nd Place – Pamela Ill with Italian Squash and Eggplant Hot Dish
3rd Place – Linda Stanley with Sunny Side Up Butternut Hash Brunch

Sweet Finalists:
1st Place – Elizabeth Peter with Pumpkin Pie Surprise Cupcakes
2nd Place – Nadalie Bosman with Pumpkin Spice Torte with Maple-Mascarpone Buttercream Drizzled with Rum, Maple and Pecan Brown Sugar Topping
3rd Place – Emily Dwinnells with Cranberry Buttercup Cake

Jams, Jellies & Preserves Finalists:
1st Place – Betty Timmreck with Sunshine Rose-Peach Jam
2nd Place – Lois Spruytte with Sassy Blackberry Peach Jam
3rd Place – Carol Socier with Carrot Cake Jam
