JOHN ZEHNDER AWARDED THOMAS JEFFERSON AWARD

Chef John Zehnder, CEC, AAC is the 2009 recipient of the Thomas Jefferson Award for culinary excellence. This national award was presented by the ACF Capital Chefs of Greater Lansing on February 7th at a reception held at the Golden Rose Restaurant in Mason, MI. Given in conjunction with the American Culinary Federation National Office in St. Augustine, FL, Chef Zehnder is only the fifth chef to receive the honor dedicated to our third U.S. President who is often called our fist gourmet president. Restaurant & Institutions Ranks US Independent Restaurants
Frankenmuth, MI – May 2, 2008 – Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth, the 1,500 seat family restaurant located in Frankenmuth, Mich., served more guests in 2007 than any other independent restaurant in the country. According to Restaurant & Institutions, a restaurant trade publication, Zehnder’s was number one in the country serving 984,190 guests- up nearly 10 percent from 2006.

American Culinary Foundations's 18th Annual Hot Food Competition
On Monday, January 26th, 2009, the American Culinary Foundation - Flint/Sainaw Valley Chapter hosted its 18th annual professional chefs' hot food competition here at Zehnder's Restaurant. This year's theme was the Wild, Wild West, "a culinary salute to cowboy cuisine". Zehnder's culinary team was well represented. Our competing chefs included:
