Pro Shop Salesperson

Department: The Fortress

Position: Pro Shop Salesperson

Reports To: Pro Shop Supervisor/Groups Coordinator

Function: In absence of Director of Golf, and as directed by Director of Golf, may supervise employees.  Register guests for golf, maintaining starting sheet and recording names of all who play.

Work Performed:

1.  As scheduled, open pro shop for business.

2.  Operate point of sale system for all transactions.  Collect fees for green fees, cart rentals,

range balls, club rentals, merchandise and tournament entries.

3.  Actively ask customers to rent golf carts and assures that carts are rented only to persons

old enough to be licensed drivers, asking for identification when necessary.

4.  Direct golfers to the golf carts, first tee and starter.

5.  Courteously enforce regulations regarding dress code, carry-on beverages, walk along, etc.

avoid causing conflicts for starters or rangers when “no one said anything in the pro shop.”

Courteously refuse admission or refund money to those who will not abide by regulations.

6.  Handle cash accurately and according to established security procedures.

7.  Answer telephone; accurately record requests for tee times or group reservations.

8.  While on duty, assure that pro shop and surrounding area is neat and clean, that merchandise

is well-arranged, and that all areas of shop and merchandise is free of dust, dirt, and fingerprints.

9.  Clean the shop at the end of the day.  Vacuum, dust, and arrange merchandise, clean glass

doors, windows, etc.  Remove all garbage from both outside and inside containers and recycle

can to appropriate containers.  Refill supplies for register area, scorecards, pencils, etc.

10.   At the end of a shift, as scheduled by Director of Golf or Pro Shop Coordinator, total daily

receipts and accurately prepare management report and bank deposit.  Secure cash in safe.

11.  Assist in shop displays and appearances, restocking merchandise on sales floor, receiving and price merchandise.

12.  Serve as starter or ranger when needed.

Fortress Service Assistant

Department: Fortress

Position: Service Assistant

Reports To: Assistant Golf Professional

Function: Assist in the daily cart service to members.

Work Performed:

1.  Assure all carts available to customers are organized, clean, free of trash or spilled drinks, and that each cart goes out in first-class condition. Pulls all other carts out of rotation until serviced.

2.  Load golfers’ bags on carts and unload if necessary.

3.  Fill sand canisters on each cart for divot repair.

4.  Inspect carts on their return, verify that no damage has occurred.  Take cart out of service; prepare damage form to be submitted with pro shop daily report.

5.  Clean carts and return them to rotation or park them in designated area, wash daily.

6.  Return carts to barn at night, making sure that bag wells, sweater baskets and cowl storage areas are empty and clean.  Lock all cars at closing, returning keys to storage rack. Lost and found items are tagged with the cart number in which they were found and turned into the pro shop.

7.  Sweep cart barn as needed.

8.  Start work early enough to get the appropriate number of carts from storage; remain

on duty until dark as assigned, to control unauthorized access to course.

9.  Clean up range and fill divots as needed.

10. Fill range bags and distribute range balls to pro shop as needed.

11.  Pick up range when scheduled.

Fortress Grounds

Department: The Fortress

Position: Groundskeeper

Function: Groundskeepers, under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent or Crew Chief, are responsible for the day to day care and maintenance of designated areas of the golf course; perform semi-skilled construction and maintenance work; and perform related tasks as requested.

Work Performed:

1.  Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, apron, tees, around fence lines, banks and hillsides; edges cart paths; edges rakes and maintains sand bunkers.

2.  Sets tee markers and cups on greens daily; maintains ball washers; replaces tee towels and flags as needed; remove debris; sands and seed tee divots; and cleans flower beds.

3.  Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems to the Equipment Manager immediately.

4.  Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance barn and cleans the maintenance areas.

5.  Waters and fertilize trees, greens and fairways.

6.  Manual excavation for irrigation and drainage pipe.

7.  Performs other duties as directed by Supervisor

Physical Requirements: Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time and perform physical labor.  Lift minimum of 75 lbs.  In season 6 day work week.

Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.

Age Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age.

Other Requirements: Knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials used in grounds and landscape area construction and maintenance work.  Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.  Ability to follow oral and written directions.
