The July U.S. jobs report was very encouraging. Nearly 1.8 million people went back to work coming on the heels of 7.5 million jobs created in May and June. That’s over 9 million jobs in the last 90 days. While we are still at a disappointing 10.6 unemployment, that’s good news. What caught my eye, in the July report, was the Leisure and Hospitality segment led with 529,000 jobs added. I get the feeling we are headed in the right direction.
At Zehnder’s our experience is similar. At the height of the shutdown, we were down to about 47 employees from about 945. Many of those that were furloughed are back and in the last 10 weeks we have had an additional 135 join our team. Our current employee population is about 850. We’re getting there but we still have a lot of opportunities at all levels.
All kinds of positions are available; dishworkers, cooks, culinary assistants, bakers, servers, retail, groundskeepers, housekeepers, kitchen, front desk, call center, security, etc., just about anything and everything.
