People Are Talking About Zehnder’s – Employee Celebrates 55 Years at Zehnder’s!

Jan 24, 2012

Zehnder’s has a long history of great customer service with a strong team behind it. One of the many long-term employees of Zehnder’s recently reached a benchmark of 55 years, a first in the history of Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth! We were honored to bestow Marion B. the 55-year Service Award at Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth’s annual Employee Holiday party on January 3, 2012.

As an intergral part of Zehnder’s heritage, Marion started her life at Zehnder’s in 1948 as a server, then moved on to Hostess duties through 1954.
“In 1960, Eddie, the owner at the time, called and asked me if I would consider processing the Zehnder’s payroll on a weekly basis; needless to say, I accepted and that later developed to full time with many additional duties including office manager, reservations and Benefits Administrator.” Says Marion. Thirty years ago, all payroll checks were calculated manually and hand written by Marion. This was no simple feat as the company grew to hundreds of paychecks per week. Marion was instrumental in computerizing the payroll process. Since then, Marion has been serving in the capacity of Benefits Administrator. About 12 years ago, she semi-retired to enjoy other interests in her life but still remains at Zehnder’s in a part-time capacity.
“Here I am, now on a part time basis, administering the 401k retirement benefits and the annual service awards.”

Marion’s advice to newcomers is simple: “Zehnder’s promotes within the corporation if an employee satisfactorily performs their job requirements to be considered for a promotion and advancement.” In other words, an employee works hard for Zehnder’s, Zehnder’s works hard to make sure the employee advances. Marion’s commitment to Zehnder’s has been beyond compare. She has always taken great pride in her work and errors are virtually non-existent. When asked what her favorite part of working at Zehnder’s is, she says she is proud to have had the opportunity to have witnessed and been involved in Zehnder’s vast growth over the years including the purchase of the Fortress Golf Course and the hotel that is now Zehnder’s Splash Village. Her favorite memories include the many great employee relationships built over the years.

Congratulations Marion and thank you for the continued loyalty to Zehnder’s!
