People always ask, “Is Mother’s Day or Easter the busiest day at Zehnder’s Restaurant?”.
For about the last five or six years, Thanksgiving is the number one busiest day of the year and the Saturday of Snowfest in January is the second busiest. In fact, Thanksgiving 2015 was the busiest day in the history of our company!
We served 7,771 guests from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. – that’s 211 more than last year’s total of 7,560. Don’t know how we did it! I honestly thought last year’s record on Thanksgiving was almost impossible to beat!
So…you ask, what does that mean in terms of food quantities?
350 Whole Turkeys – 24 lbs. each
1,000 Breaded Chickens – 3 ½ lbs each
775 lbs. Bone-In Turkey Breasts (we carve them on our buffets)
800 lbs. Beef Top Rounds (carved on buffets)
20 Roasted Prime Ribs – 25 lbs. each
86 Roasted Ducks – 6 lbs. each
1,000 lbs. Blue Hubbard Squash
1,000 lbs. Cranberry Apple Relish
1,000 Sweet Potatoes
400 loaves “Bachofen” White Bread
320 “Stollen” Fruit Bread Loaves
And the list goes on AND ON!!!!!
