Each month our employees have an opportunity to nominate other team members for Employee of the Month. Our President, Bill Parlberg and I invite each of them to lunch as a way of personally congratulating them and to get to know them a little better.
Last month, Nick Worley, one of our maintenance crew that keeps The Fortress in such great shape, was one that received the designation. During lunch I asked him what his particular duties had been and he said that he was working on maintaining the bunkers. I asked him if he knew how many bunkers we had and without hesitation said, “Seventy; 30 on the front, 39 on the back and 1 practice.” He went on to say that he knows each and every bunker on each and every hole of the course. I didn’t doubt him. Maintaining a golf course is a big job and keeping the bunkers in top shape is as important as tees, greens and fairways.
While we have had a great golf season so far this year, there is a lot of golf yet to be played. The months of September and October are perfect for golf as the days turn cooler and the colors of autumn begin.
