Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth President Nick Shelton has been selected as one of Crain’s Detroit Business’ 2026 40 Under 40 honorees, recognizing his professional accomplishments, leadership and dedication to the community.
The annual recognition celebrates outstanding young professionals who are making a meaningful impact through their careers and community involvement.
Shelton, who assumed the role of president in January 2026, leads an organization of approximately 850 employees. His career with Zehnder’s began full time in 2013, and he previously spent 12 years overseeing golf operations at The Fortress Golf Course before stepping into his current leadership position.
Shelton credits much of his success to the support and guidance he has received throughout his career.
“This recognition reflects the people who have helped shape my career, from my family and colleagues at Zehnder’s to my coaches and mentors at Valparaiso,” said Shelton. “Zehnder’s has always been centered around helping families make lasting memories. I’m proud to lead our organization in continuing that legacy, creating new spaces and experiences that give families even more ways to spend time together.”
In addition to his leadership at Zehnder’s, Shelton has played an important role in advancing community initiatives throughout Frankenmuth. His efforts helped secure $10 million in state funding for the planned Frankenmuth Credit Union Sports Complex, a community development project representing an investment of more than $35 million.
Shelton’s commitment to community leadership extends to his involvement with several business organizations. He has served on the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors since 2019, holding the position of board chair in 2025 and immediate past chair in 2026. He has also been a member of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors since 2021.
His selection to Crain’s prestigious 40 Under 40 list highlights his continued dedication to strengthening Zehnder’s legacy while supporting the growth and vitality of the Frankenmuth community.
