Department: Z-Chef’s Café
Position: Café Back of House Supervisor
Reports To: Z Chef’s Cafe Manager
Function: The daily implementation of outstanding customer service in an arena which provides foodservice, takeout, culinary artistry and “Food is Theater” within the financial guidelines established for the area.
Work Performed:
1. Supervision of the “Guest Services Staff” in outstanding customer service.
2. The “hands-on” participation, with that staff, in the daily sales operation of the area.
3. Working with the Head Chef and the Production Chef in teaching the sales staff about the foods which they are selling by providing information about the products, their ingredients, how to hold & heat, and other necessary concepts.
4. Supervision of the culinary assistants, their duties, and customer service.
5. Following the laws and codes set forth by the Michigan Department of Health & HACCP. Maintenance of a clean and sanitary work area.
6. Adhering to the policies of Zehnder’s and the law as they relate to employment and daily work duties.
7. Daily communication with the Z-Café Manager and Food & Beverage (F&B) Director on food production and other related topics.
8. Attend F&B meetings and other meetings required or suggested to inform or improve the area.
9. Help, as directed, in the display of the food products in the hot/cold units in the public area.
10. Participation in the “food is theater” philosophy when requested by the F&B Director.
11. Any other tasks or assignments as directed by the F&B Director.
12. Any reasonable task/duty to help improve/maintain Food and Beverage team relations.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Work in high volume environment.
Educational Requirements: 5 years of experience in volume foodservice “Front of the House” supervisor. Basic level of understanding of culinary concepts in the restaurant industry. Completion of formal customer service program and/or ability to demonstrate outstanding customer service. Serve Safe Manager Certified
Other Requirements: Able to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays. Able to communicate well orally and in writing.
Age Requirement: Must be 21 years of age or older.
